Job Description

Title: Systems Engineer

Reports to: Project Manager, Xylem Water Solutions UK Ltd

Based at: Unit 7 Dunhams Court, Dunhams Lane, Letchworth, Herts, SG6 1WB

Job purpose: To be part of the team designing, programming, building, and installing Xylem water quality solutions into the water monitoring market in the UK meeting the customers’ needs.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Building Xylem solutions such as HydroDaaS systems, data buoys or cabinet systems following standard designs or customised to suit specific customer needs involving both electrical and mechanical elements.

  • Involved in the programming of our environmental systems with particular focus of Campbell dataloggers and SCADA integration.

  • Site surveys and installations on rivers, lakes, reservoirs and coastal environments as required.

  • Customer support for existing solutions already in the field via phone or email.

  • QA inspection and test of all new solutions prior to delivery.

  • Assisting with trials.

  • Assisting to resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.

  • Involved in the continuous improvement of existing systems

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Skills/Qualifications :

Qualified to HNC / HND, City & Guilds or degree in relevant subject. Several years of electronic and mechanical engineering experience. Previous experience in the water monitoring industry preferable. Experience with programming of dataloggers, PLC’s and telemetry systems highly desirable. Self-confidence, comfortable working safely in or around water and ability to work alone and as part of a team.
