Objectives of this role

  • Start with guiding the development of teams by building out our message processing, configurations, and commands in our AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) head-end system

  • Act as a face for product-related customer questions and Reach Presentations.

  • The person is expected to have strong leadership skills and significant technical knowledge starting with a technical deep-dive with the engineering teams, then grow to cover other product areas.

  • Key decision maker on features, priorities, and designs to meet broader customer needs within the context of the product and business strategy and direction.

  • Work closely with product managers and services teams to contribute to and understand the product vision. Then create and maintain a product backlog prioritized according to the business value or ROI.

  • Work with the scrum team leads to ensure execution on the backlog: meeting business, quality, usability and functional goals with each product release.

  • Remain up to date on trends and best practices for Agile methodologies, our industry, and our customers.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Empowered to lead:

  • Inspire and motivate the development teams to deliver innovative and valuable solutions with a high degree of predictability and a sense of urgency & help them to adapt to changing requirements without breaking the team cadence.

  • Act as a product ambassador internally and externally: sharing knowledge and acting as the primary technical contact for questions.

  • Understand the broader customer needs: Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories and epics to ensure work aligns with product strategy.

  • Accountable to Deliver:

  • Plan, prioritize, ensure execution, and communicate outcomes on product development, product feature backlog, and all dependencies.

  • Lead the product-release plans and set expectations, provide transparency for all stakeholders into the delivery status of new functionalities, and provide enablement materials to enhance understanding and adoption of our products.

  • Mitigate roadblocks to achieving sprint/release goals.

  • Inspired to Innovate:

  • Translate high-level roadmap into small, deliverable iterative stories, which are clearly understood by relevant team members and lead to successful business and customer outcomes.

  • Continually interact with and learn about our customers, Agile practices, and our industry to bring next generation ideas to our product teams.

  • Align with our culture: Be an Agile evangelist, active Watermark participant, and Continuous Improvement partner.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in a product role working with modern software technologies including web, mobile and cloud-based systems or deep knowledge of the RNI product and willingness to learn a product mindset.

  • Knowledge of electric, water and/or gas industries or software solutions aimed at utilities.

  • Adept at directing and motivating scrum teams

  • Proven experience creating small, value-scoped, user stories and define acceptance criteria to execute on a larger roadmap in an iterative manner.

  • Understanding of business value related to features and functions.

  • Able to work with user groups, conduct surveys, incorporate voice of customer, and gather stakeholder feedback to define, scope and prioritize features and stories.

  • Outstanding & confident communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams to manage conflicting needs of stakeholders and to close the loop upon completion work.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Experience with system-solutions which interface and collect data from sensor networks.

  • In-depth knowledge of Agile methodology and development practices

  • Training and/or certification as a professional scrum product owner (PSPO) or as a certified scrum product owner (CSPO).

  • Familiarity and/or experience with user research (foundational/discovery methodologies, usability studies, persona development, etc.).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science, business management or equivalent experience.

Salary range:

$70,500.00 - $126,500.00
