THE ROLE : Xylem-Morton Grove is seeking a dedicated and experienced EHS-VPP Coordinator to lead and manage the site's efforts in achieving OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) certification. The EHS-VPP Coordinator will play a pivotal role in promoting a safety culture, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and driving continuous improvement in occupational safety and health. This position is contingent and will focus on the specific goal of obtaining and maintaining VPP certification.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the site's OSHA VPP certification program at a Star recognition level.

  • Develop a plan to audit, track, and maintain OSHA VPP minimum qualification prior to the VPP certification application process.

  • Complete VPP online application and include all necessary documentation.

  • Identify and assess workplace hazards and, develop strategies to maintain the sites 3-year average below at least one of the BLS rates for our industry.

  • Conduct regular and comprehensive worksite analysis to identify potential safety and health issues, recommend corrective actions, and tracking progress.

  • Coordinate and deliver employee training programs on safety-related topics, ensuring that all employees are adequately trained and competent.

  • Foster a safety culture and ensure management is committed to providing the necessary resources and support for the VPP program.

  • Promote worker involvement in safety initiatives, encouraging employees to actively identify and address safety concerns.

  • Ensure all documentation and processes are in place in accordance to requirements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including labor representatives, to facilitate proactive safety discussions and initiatives that supports VPP certification.

  • Identify, develop, and implement actions that improve safety and health management systems, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and VPP requirements.

  • Prepare the site for OSHA’s verification process which include an application review and a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of OSHA safety and health experts.

  • Provide regular reports and updates to management on the progress of VPP certification efforts and safety performance.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or a related field.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications preferred.

  • Proven experience in EHS management, with a focus on VPP certification.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and VPP principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in using EHS software and tools.

  • Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
