Job Summary:

The French Tax and Statutory Accountant is responsible for :

Support Accounting Leader in managing and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting requirements in France. This position requires a deep understanding of French tax laws, accounting principles, and regulatory frameworks to accurately prepare and submit tax filings and statutory financial statements. The role involves collaborating with various departments, external auditors, and tax authorities to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Managing DOA, SOX documentation, audits & gap closure within WS France. Ensuring adequate audit preparation and timely responses, no major or repeat gaps and active follow-up and on-time closure of any identified gaps.

Ensure appropriate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts. Implement a policy clarifying format, content, and frequency of reconciliations as well as appropriate follow-up for reconciling or adjusting items.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance:

  • Support Accounting Manager in preparation and file various tax returns, including corporate income tax, value-added tax (VAT), and other indirect taxes, in accordance with French tax laws and deadlines.

  • Monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure the organization's tax practices remain up-to-date and in compliance.

  • Calculate and record tax provisions, deferred taxes, and any tax-related adjustments in the financial statements.

Statutory Financial Reporting:

  • Support Accounting Manager to prepare and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with French statutory accounting principles (French Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - GAAP).

  • Produce financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, following French reporting requirements.

  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate closing procedures, ensuring all financial information is properly reported.

Compliance:

  • Managing DOA and SOX documentation, ensure good level of internal control audits. Ensuring adequate audit preparation and timely responses, no major or repeat gaps and active follow-up and on-time closure of identified gaps. Ensure appropriate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts. Implement a policy clarifying format, content, and frequency of reconciliations as well as appropriate follow-up for reconciling or adjusting items.

External Audits and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual financial audits and tax inspections, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities and assist with tax audits and assessments.

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, such as those set forth by the Autorité des Normes Comptables (ANC) in France.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments, such as finance, legal, and operations, to gather financial data and ensure alignment with tax and accounting requirements.

  • Provide guidance and support to business units on tax-related matters, such as the tax implications of new projects or transactions.

Compliance Advisory:

  • Advise internal stakeholders on tax-efficient strategies while ensuring compliance with French tax regulations.

  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate potential impacts to relevant stakeholders.

Required qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Professional certification such as Chartered Accountant (Expert-Comptable) in France is highly desirable.

  • In-depth knowledge of French tax laws, accounting principles, and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Previous experience in tax compliance and statutory accounting, preferably with a focus on French taxation.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
