Xylem Strategic Sourcing Manager in United States

THE ROLE : The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for driving purchasing decisions based on scenario analysis, market trends, and cost and negotiate contracts with key suppliers. He/She collaborates with the procurement department and identify and follow up with potential new suppliers. Conducts market research, create forecasts and cost estimates, and are responsible for hiring, training, and managing procurement department employees. Along with XGP’s Category Managers, he/she will maintain strategic sourcing relationships, develop strong partnerships, contracts and agreements with suppliers and serve as a second tier escalation point with suppliers and providers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Evaluating sourcing procedures and presenting improvement strategies to senior management for approval.

  • Analyzing and calculating procurement costs and developing cost reduction strategies.

  • Negotiating contracts with key suppliers, including costs and terms of supply, service, and quality.

  • Collaborating with the procurement department to identify and pursue new supplier opportunities.

  • Conducting market research, as well as creating cost estimates and forecasts.

  • Hiring, training, and managing procurement department employees.

  • Estimating risks and applying risk minimizing techniques, as well as negotiating contracts that comply with industry regulations.

  • Maintaining strategic sourcing relationships and developing strong partnerships.

  • Negotiate contract modifications, follow-up quotations, revisions, terms and conditions with vendors.

  • Work with business partners to identify and drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) process improvements to reduce costs.

  • Partner with all other elements of sourcing and procurement (Business Services, Financial Analysis and Reporting, and Business Relationship teams).

  • Provide regular project status information to team members, including attending required meetings and follow-up on action items.

  • Identify and manage performance improvement dependencies and critical path issues.

  • Assist in the establishment and administration of unit policies, procedures and systems.

  • Establish the rules and methods to assess existing supplier performance, and the selection methods/criteria for new partners.

  • Translate the strategy into vision and communicate throughout the organization and with key external stakeholders to ensure alignment.

  • Administer contracts in accordance with company and customer policies and procedures, provide interpretation and analysis of contract documents and review and evaluate customer requests for changes in or revisions of contracts that involve technical specifications, cost, or schedule impact on the company.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain or relevant experience

  • 8-10 years of Experience in Procurement and Sourcing.

  • Proven ability to manage a team of supply chain professionals both locally and remotely (direct and indirect reports).

  • Proven negotiation and facilitation skills with Suppliers

  • Strong experience and understanding of supply chain systems and ERP software.

  • Analytical, data driven approach with general financial analysis skills.

  • Change Management Skills

  • Must be capable of identifying opportunities and drive improvements from long standing relationships and implement new processes as required.

  • Success in working with Supply Chains to optimize Service and Inventory Costs

  • Project Management Skills – Has demonstrated success in managing complex projects.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills

  • Strong Ability to act independently using own judgment and initiative

  • Ability to interface with all levels of organization

  • Lean Six Sigma skills are a plus

  • Exceptional and well-respected partnering skills with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Travel as needed

Salary range:

$91,500.00 - $164,500.00
